How many movies make A-List worth it?

At $15.00 a ticket, a $29.99 plan breaks even at two movies. At $12.00, it takes three. A-List prices vary by state and change from time to time, so use your own renewal price, not a first-month offer.

These are my own numbers, from January 1, 2026 to September 14, 2026, counted by cinemoo from my AMC ticket confirmations. My plan was $27.99 a month until July and $29.99 from August.

What I paid is the membership plus $58.77 of surcharges and fees on top of it. The average ticket would have cost $21.66, and all 44 were standard showings, so none of that value came from IMAX or Dolby.
Every full month passed break-even. The leanest, February, had 2 movies and still came out $8.99 ahead; the best, July, saved $200.31.

Premium formats
IMAX, Dolby Cinema and PRIME tickets cost more, and A-List covers them. One premium showing can do the work of two standard ones.
Your local ticket price
A matinee in a small town and an evening in a big city can differ by more than the pass costs. Use what you would really pay, with tax and booking fees.
The three-month start
A-List begins with a three-month commitment. A plan that only pays off in a busy month should pay off across all three.
Spending you would not have had
If the pass gets you to the theater more often, count the parking, travel and snacks that come with the extra trips. The calculator has a field for them.
