Privacy policy

Last updated: September 28, 2026

This policy explains how CineMoo collects and uses information when you use the website, iPhone, iPad, or Android app, forwarding service, mailbox connections, or support. Questions and privacy requests can be sent to [email protected].

Information you provide

  • Your email address and sign-in information identify and protect your account.
  • Movie visits, ratings, theatres, seats, prices, fees, and settings provide history and savings features.
  • Messages you forward to your CineMoo address are stored so CineMoo can import ticket or membership details and improve parsing.
  • If you connect a mailbox (Outlook, or Gmail where it is offered), you give CineMoo read-only access to it through Microsoft or Google. CineMoo never receives your mailbox password. It looks for cinema ticket and membership emails by sender and subject, downloads and stores only the emails that match, and never sends, changes, moves, or deletes mail. The access tokens are stored encrypted.
  • Support messages contain whatever you choose to send.

How information is used

CineMoo uses this information to operate and secure your account, import and display movie history, estimate membership savings, synchronize devices, answer support requests, prevent abuse, and diagnose service failures. CineMoo does not use advertising trackers, serve ads, sell personal information, or train advertising profiles.

Leaderboards and community stats

If you go to AMC, Odeon, or hold Regal Unlimited, your count of completed visits there is ranked on that chain's leaderboard. If you choose a username, it appears beside your count on the leaderboard inside CineMoo and on the public leaderboard at cinemoo.app/leaderboard, which anyone can view. Without a username, your row carries no name publicly, and only your first initial inside CineMoo. You can remove your username in Settings at any time. The public film charts at cinemoo.app/popular are totals across members: a film appears only once at least three members have seen it, and no chart shows a theatre, city, seat, or showtime.

Service providers

Hosting, database, object-storage, authentication, and email providers process information for CineMoo under their service terms. Film titles may be sent to TMDB to find metadata and artwork without your account identity. Information may also be disclosed when required by law or necessary to protect users and the service. If you connect a mailbox, Microsoft or Google provides that access under its own terms.

Sentry processes error reports and sampled performance data to help diagnose failures. These reports can include error messages, stack traces, and route names. CineMoo configures Sentry to omit request bodies, cookies, headers, query parameters, and automatic user identity.

PostHog processes product analytics for the website: the pages you visit and the buttons you use, your browser and approximate location, and recordings of how pages were used, so CineMoo can see which features are useful. Signed-in visits are linked to your account by an internal ID, not your email address. Recordings hide what you type and any email address shown on the page.

Storage, security, and retention

Production traffic is encrypted in transit. The iPhone, iPad, and Android apps keep refresh credentials in platform secure storage and do not place credentials in offline content caches. Account information is retained while the account is active and as needed to operate, secure, and meet legal obligations for the service. Operational logs and backups may remain for limited recovery and security periods after live records are removed.

Your choices

You can correct visits and settings, export your history, remove individual records, or request account deletion from Settings. The public deletion instructions at cinemoo.app/delete-account explain the available methods and records that may need to be retained. You can stop future processing by no longer forwarding messages, removing any forwarding rule in your email service, and disconnecting a connected mailbox on the Imports page, which deletes CineMoo's access tokens. You can also remove CineMoo's access from your Microsoft or Google account settings. Emails already imported stay with your account until you delete it.

Children and changes

CineMoo is not directed to children under 13. If this policy changes materially, the updated policy and date will be posted here. Continued use after a change is governed by the updated policy to the extent permitted by law.
